WTF man? It was going well. Great progression, vibe, feel. Then for no good reason you drove the car off the road towards the last half.

idk man, I would say most of the remakes of Diva songs. The set was perfect, then u went to a weird place, like someone interupted u or something and went totally different...idk...maybe it's just me, I'm not into Diva anthems. But there u go, I just gave u actual cristicism, I know thats hard to get with all the dick kissing going around with DJ's. It basically sounded like two dif. sets. I was really diggin the firt 45 minutes or so, I was actually pumped at the office. And u stopped mixing as well. Songs were being dropped off into other songs on that last leg of the set. Like u just lowered the volume and raised it on another track rather than beat matching, which confused me because the first half was shaping up to be a master piece. Don't take offense, I have never touched the decks and don't plan on it lol Just giving you what I always give, honesty.

Hm I'm assuming your talking about the last 10 minutes with Be and Stay when you say "diva". They were outro songs. They really don't fit the other 1 hour of the mix, its true. I tried to create a mix that brings your hyperness up and then slows you down. I didn't want to drop bomb after bomb of all crazy shit.
Dick kissing? That's the last thing we get. I WISH it were that way. You may think thats what DJs get but releasing ANYTHING is nearly impossible without thousands bashing. The shit I've delt with at clubs and venues I could write a book about. I've been lied to, cheated, mislead, under paid, and every other word in existance that can describe the unfair world of music artists. It's all part of the game though and we just need to play by it to survive. I love criticism since it helps me improve so as for me, I reallly don't mind at all. I love the fact that you did listen to the whole thing and that means a lot to me so thank you.

hey mike id like to comment on this mix also, i downloaded this a while ago and the best thing that came out of it is my love for Moonbeam - Cocoon fucking love that track.... u did a great job getting the "crowd" going with this mix but i do agree with Raul when he says it dropped off. I also know what you mean by tapering a mix out and not being a jukebox. unfortuanately when mixing a 1hr or so cd its hard to do. you really have to have the perfect selection to make it feel like a journey only in an hour or so. Either way i like the mix , and i love moonbeam.

There u go. It took another DJ to properly express what I was trying to say. But in all honesty, I am def. going to download the rest of ur mixes because that first 45 mins def. over shadows what I didn't enjoy. I was loving it. Trust.

And as for this^^^^
Trust dude, I know all about it. I have managed, promoted, hosted, and been all up in that scene. But what I meant was friends. Friends are always affraid to tell the truth about how they felt about their friends set, mix or home made track. Thus "dick kissing" I useto be this way, but found all the DJ's I was around really wanted real opinions with real advice. Just as an example because he is in this thread, Ed always runs his shit by me, and when he first started many moons ago, I useto always say "good shit man" even if it was bad and he knew it. But the look in his face told me he wanted more from me since he knew he could do better. So I stopped pulling punches, and I might not be tactful, but unfortunately english is not my first language so I get lost with nuance. I know the scene is rough, but it would not be as rough if ur testers/friends would be honest. Just like all them american idol rejects. They show up because their friends and families are affraid to tell them they suck. I don't want to be that guy that let's someone get fed to the sharks unprepaired. I could go on and on, but this paragraph is long enough. Just trust when I tell u that ur set was awesome, I just didn't like the last 25 mins. No big deal, it's still all love.

I really appreciate the honestly. I know for a fact I could use feedback. I wish more people would provide feedback on some of my work instead of saying "oh its great!" just to make me feel better when in fact I'd feel better if they were honest.

just listened to Blacklight. I liked it. The build of the mix was nice, minus one track towards the end that seemed to take the energy down a notch. It was a track with a female spoken word sample over it, I believe two songs after the Sander van Doorn track. The SVD track is a monster, so the plodding minimal track two songs later sort of abruptly affects the flow of the mix. But thats pretty minor. Good stuff though.
the mix does sound software-mixed...thats not a bad thing. What software do you use?
