alright so i was just reading this article and normally i wouldnt really give a shit cause i dont care about golf unless it has to do with Tiger but i was just reading it to kill time, but it brought an interesting debate; whether or not Mickelson was actually cheating, you tell me.

Golfers were using specially-cut grooves on their clubs to spin the ball more sharply and play more effectively out of the rough; the penalty for putting a shot into the rough was thus minimized. So as of Jan. 1st the USGA and the Royal & Ancient, two of golf's major governing bodies, decreed that such grooves were illegal and could not be used on Tour starting this year.

right. but apparently theres some law that allows any clubs dating previous to 1990, are allowed to be used reguardless of grooves, cuts, and whatnot. so pretty much a loophole in the law.

Of course Phil Mickelson showed up to the first PGA Tour with a club with specially cut grooves (which were outlawed) but it was a club dating prior to 1990 so techniqually it was legal.

anyway, a whole bunch of checkered pants'ed golfers are bitching that Mickelson is cheating, but techniqually hes not, but he is. hes more like being a dick. so is he cheating by using the loophole?

i think they should stop bitching and also use the loophole.

Lol that's a weird ass loop hole. Good for him, but to be fair they probably have to change something, being an old school gangsta golfa doesn't grant one permission to use special clubs. Unless they want golf to become more video gamish, that rule needs to change.

And btw, are there really any "laws" about golf? :laugh1:
