Sounds awesome, except, that if players play at full speed for 18 it will make for an injury plagued playoffs.

if u thought players were getting hurt alot now, extend the season and see what happens. u gon have 4th stringers in the playoffs.

I think it's gonna be great for the fans, more Sundays to watch football. As a fan, I couldn't agree more with it!

less of a layoff between football and baseball would be awesome, longest offseason ever

This statement just confused the shit out of me. Am I reading it wrong or did u just say they are not going to be playing more games overall. Last I checked 18 was more than 16. Fact is that in preseason the first and second stringers play very, very, very little and not at full speed. Add two game that actually matter, played for the whole 60 minutes, and at full speed, you can only expect more wear and tear. It also means that training camp would start 2-3 weeks earlier than now. I would love to have more meaningful football, but at what cost?

agreed..basketball's weak.. and march madness is only exciting for the last 2weeks..worst layover in sports

and the average NFL salary is well over a million..they can suck it up for 2 more games

i was refering to that itd still be 20 games including preseason and regular season either way you looked at it...clearly more 2nd and 3rd stringers play in preseason but look at uminyora he got hurt just the same in a preseason game so it seems just as likely that the amount of injuries would stay around the same

I do not agree there Tommy. Uminyora was a freak accident, most first stringers see maybe 3-4 quarters of action during the 4 game preseason. That is a huge dif. Plus now ur talking guys showing up to camp 2-3 weeks earlier. It's simple math and physics dude. The more you play, the more hurt you get. And I don't want to hear that "they get payed enough" argument either. Unless you put on some pads with the best of the best, which is the NFL I don't want to hear shit. These guys are walking criples by the time they hit 45.

45? do the names Curtis Martin and Tiki Barber ring any bells, Football is rough as hell i played in HS and still to this day my shoulders and legs act up, pads dont mean anything they are there for looks and to keep you in the game longer, more games means less of an offseason to recover especially if you make the SB i say injuries will be higher if it gets approved. and the NFL doesnt pay as well as people think most contracts have very little Guaranteed money and ridiculous performance clauses, this is why every yr people want to renegotiate their contracts.
